Description

This interactive session will provide background information on the techniques and resources utilized for a textbook free course. Session participants will participate in a roundtable discussion on the benefits and pitfalls of such an approach and can expect to leave with a “tool kit” to ditch the text in their own course and discipline.

Wendy L. Johnston is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at SUNY Adirondack Community College. A recent Chancellor’s Excellence Award recipient, Professor Johnston’s teaching touches on a broad array of political areas from American Government to International Relations. Her research interests center on generational politics, social media and digital citizenship. Professor Johnston has presented several workshops at the American Political Science Association’s Teaching and Learning Conference, specifically on the role of technology in the classroom. Beyond teaching, Prof. Johnston also serves as an academic advisor, student senate advisor, and Alternate Delegate to the Faculty Council of Community Colleges.
